question 4
how did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Technologies used within editing stages
youtube
YouTube was a key piece of technology for our a2 coursework. When begininning the process of making our trailer, we needed to delve into different aspects of the horror genre. We looked at different horror trailers so we could gain an understanding on what was popular and what types of horror gained the most views. YouTube was ideal as it allowed us to watch these trailers for free. We focused on new horrors that were based in the past, for example ''The Conjuring''. YouTube allowed us to watch these trailers quickly and easily. YouTube was a massive help when it came too extracting sound for our horror. Sound is catalytic in horror, without it horror would not be as popular as it is today. Once again, due to YouTube's convenience we could take sound and use it in our A2 trailer straight away.
Pic Monkey
PicMonkey proved to be a key tool for our A2 coursework. It allowed us to edit photos with ease, especially when it came too the poster and the magazine. We experimented with different outlines and images on both pieces, and PicMonkey allowed us to do this without any hassle. Without PicMonkey we would have wasted a lot of time chopping and changing our pieces of coursework, as other programs aren't as quick and easy to use. PicMonkey also allowed us to play around with different text. We were unsure on what font we should use when it came to our poster, and PicMonkey helped massively when it came too deciding on a font that suited our piece. Although we didn't use PicMonkey for our final piece, it was key in the early stages, before we started our final piece.
final cut pro
Without Final Cut Pro, we would not have been able to produce such an effective trailer. Final cut allowed us to experiment with different effects such as sound, moving image, special effects and use of text. Final Cuts detailed program allowed us to make accurate and detailed work. When finding our brand identity Final Cut made our job that much easier with the vast amount of tools we could use. It gave us the option to use different overlays to create a grungy effect on our trailer. We wanted to create a dated video diary to have a sense of history in our trailer and Final cut helped by changing the sound and picture making it look like it is not filmed in this present day.

photoshop
Photoshop helped us get a professional quality poster and magazine cover. Over a period of time getting to grips with this program was challenging but gave us great effects. When researching magazine covers and movie posters Photoshop helped us to achieve a good quality end product to compete against other brands. Photoshop allowed us to create different layers of images and text. Photoshop also helped us create our brand identity of the mask and the video diary.
Technologies used within our evaluation stages
Green Screening
Green screen allowed us to expand our skills when constructing a poster, magazine cover and making videos to evaluate of work. The help of the Green screen let us show different ways of evaluating our work. This was a new type of technology we used to make our evaluation more interesting and intriguing. it also gave us the chance to play our trailer and clips behind the interviewe where they would speak about individual parts of the trailer. The green allowed us to make simple videos to make the evaluation more effective.

The program of Prezi helped us create presentations to a professional degree. Prezi helped us present information on our website to show different topics we've explored. When evaluating our work we found that Prezi let us show a presentation in a simple yet effective way to show what we've found out.
