Trailer Analysis
These are a few trailers that are all different from each other, however are all very effective in their own way.
The Woman In Black (2012)"The Woman in Black" uses a range of different paced shots which helps build up the tension and atmosphere. The soundtrack and sound effects also add to the mood of the trailer. For example at places the music is very quite, almost silent, the suddenly jump to a loud bang, making the audience jump. The use of location for the film is a great classic old abandoned house. Colour used throughout the trailer is very dark, dull and gloomy, even during the day, which makes the trailer much more sinister. At the beginning of the trailer there are a couple of great establishing shots which help set the scene and time period of the film. The use of blackouts in-between a couple of the shots was a great way of building the tension, and can also symbolise the time passing by.

The white titles stand out great and are very easy to read on top of the black motion background. The motion background consists of smoke blowing across the screen. This creates a very sinister atmosphere and can also be linked into the fog and mist that always surrounds the house. The use of effects in this trailer are very minimal, however the ones used are flashes between clips during the fast paced shots, and a fading of the shots during the slower clips, for example at the beginning on the train. After the film title near the end of the trailer, there are a few shots which create a final scare. This is effective as it is a great final way of drawing the audience in and persuading them to watch the film, it also becomes more memorable.

Sinister (2012)
"Sinister" uses the soundtrack to build an atmosphere of suspension and wonder. The use of sots showing the dialogue between the family, gives the effect that something "Sinister" will happen to them. I like the way they use two different types of technology to find out the mystery to what happened to the missing children, this is a great original idea for a horror film. The name of The film "Sinister" sets the story well, by beginning with quick shots of the murder investigation evidence and setting makes you believe that your apart of it and your straight into the story. The use of sound builds an atmosphere of suspense making you feel as watching you know something will eventually jump out at you, the use of this effect intrigues the audience into staying concentrated on the trailer taking in every effect. The use of the title embraces the atmosphere the trailer is creating, the simple use of a bland background with shadows over it makes it very effective.

the conjuring (2013)Compared to the other trailer, the quality of ''The Conjuring'' makes it memorable. it makes it memorable from the way it has been designed and created from the most littlest feature. From the start of the trailer the usage of diegetic makes it more realistic and emphasis the different emotion surrounding the audience. Such as the usage of a piano then suddenly a sinister child laughing. The sound Emphasis also the location of which the film is based a family home. A unique feature is the use of sound effect such as the usage of the projector crackling and clicking; from this effect it gives off an old fashion feel and approach to more home video. This is seen from the different coloured glitches and the usage of blips of white gives it an authentic value which fit perfectly in with the storyline and time settting.

evil dead (2013)The storyline is based around an old book which is said to be haunted. The tales of the book unleash a spirit that haunts a young girl who is in the woods. The lighting of the trailer at the start is very dim, but as the trailer picks up pace the lighting gets a lot brighter. The sound of the trailer is also very similar as the girl introduces what is happening to her and what is in the woods, then we see the spirit and the pace of the trailer grows rapidly. The soundtrack then grows with the trailer. However the storyline is given away in the trailer as i believe they reveal way too much, and I would question if there are any more significant parts of the film that are not in the trailer. The titles for the film are very traditional and we only see the title of the film right at the end. ''Evil Dead'' is a very traditional trailer as we see a slow start matched by a very fast paced ending.
