Trailer inspiration
What is a trailer?
A trailer is a type of advertisement for a movie. This contains scenes/clips from the film to attract their audience and persuade people to come and watch it.
To get inspiration for our trailer we looked at a load of paranormal/supernatural trailers. By doing this we were able to see what we liked and disliked about each of them and to see if we would be able to recreate any of their ideas.

Mama (2013) - We like the way at points the screen is black and no clip is being shown however you are still able to hear the characters speaking - The dull and dark colours used adds a gloomy and eary atmosphere - We love the way the patchy black background used behind the titles slowly grows when each one appears - The soundtrack helps build up tension and the loud bangs work well with the clip flashing up at the same time |

Dead Silence (2007) - We like the idea of the dolls being the ones who cause the incidents/deaths - The idea of everything going silent before a death is very effective as it builds up tension - The dark colours used relates to the night and death - The idea of having images quickly flash inbetween the clips helps build up the story and add more detail |
One Missed Call (2008) - We really like the use of titles, at the start they give away small hints about the film. The font and effect used for them to come on screen is great as it links in with the whole use of phones. - The use of music for the ring tone is very creepy and memorable as it is played a couple of times. - The use of a red ball sweet falling the victims mouth after their death is a great idea as it shows all the deaths are linked. The sweet is also a sign of incense from the victim. - The use of quick shots helps build up tension. |

Curse of Chucky (2013) - We love the idea of having a Doll who is possessed rather than the usual human which appears in horror films often. - We found that long gap with no image in effective as it keeps the audience on edge as they suspect something jumpy. It was also a great way of high lighting Chucky's voice/saying. - The use of fading in and out with a small gap between each clip of the girl at the beginning was effective, as it slowly built up the tension and showed her emotion gradually changing. |
Sinister (2012) - From this we liked the innocence of the little girl - We liked how there was a backround story which the film is based around - The build up of soundtrack when something sinister happened added tension - Tension was also built up with the shots quickly appearing one after the other - We also liked how the film real acted like a clock/heartbeat near the end |

The Bay (2012)
- We liked the video diary and hand held shots at the beginning of the film which added to its realism - The plot of the film is unique and different from usual horror films, making play homage to it more - We loved the idea of the reporter narating about the happenings of the past |
The Purge (2013)
- We loved the use of masks throughout the film, as they have the normal human facial features however the use of the smile and big dark eyes make them look much more sinister - The use of the scared family gave the audience something to get emotionally attached to - The costumes worn are similar to everyday clothing which makes it more realistic, for example the white dress worn by a young girl make them look much more innocent |
